Reason to Watch – Nagesh Kukanoor makes you believe that there is still goodwill left in the world, as he shows the story of ordinary people triumphing against all the odds.

5Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women (2003)

A disturbing saga of how women are mistreated in India and their battles with male chauvinism. It’s a fictional account of how in the near future the country will be left without the fairer sex.

This is a sweet drama to watch, where a boy inspired by our late former president, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam changes his name to Kalam. The movie follows as the boy tries to achieve his dream of meeting the legendary president at least once.

Reason to Watch –Harsh Mayar was awarded the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his heart-tugging performance in this movie.

2Ugly (2013)

True to the title, this movie rips open the uglier side of human nature. The story starts with the kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl. The movie narrates the tale of corruption, violence and indifference of the father, mother, step-father as they turn greedy and ugly, without caring about the girl caught amidst all the drama.

Reason to Watch – Anurag Kashyap at his best! Do you need any more?

1Viruddh (2005)

A drama with some big names including Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, John Abraham and Anusha Dandekar. The plot is about the struggles of an old couple, whose son was wrongly implicated with false charges by the police and subsequently met his death.
